China Tariff Exemptions Extended Through April 2022

Dear AHEC Members,

Today we just received word from the Ministry of Finance of China and our contacts in the region that the tariff exemptions that were set to expire on September 17th of 2021 have been extended through April 16th 2022. We have received initial confirmation of the extensions through the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service office in Beijing and they are currently working on an official translated version of the statement.

You can view the official statement (in Chinese) from the Ministry of Finance here.

We will continue to update you with any further developments, but for now it appears that Chinese tariffs will not come back into play for the US hardwood industry until after April 16th, 2022. If you have any questions at this time please don’t hesitate to reach out to John Chan, Mike Snow, or myself.

Best,

Tripp Pryor
