Dear LSLA Members and Educational Partners,
The Lake States Lumber Association (LSLA) is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2026 Louis “Lumber Lou” Chicquette Memorial Scholarship, offering financial assistance of up to $5,000 to a deserving student pursuing a career in the wood and forest products industry.
This scholarship was established in memory of Louis “Lumber Lou” Chicquette, a founding member of LSLA and a dedicated advocate of the lumber industry. Lou’s passion for the industry and commitment to its future continue through this scholarship, which recognizes students who demonstrate similar enthusiasm and dedication.
Who is Eligible?
The scholarship is available to students enrolled in an accredited forestry or wood products program who are :
- High School students planning to attend a college or a university in the Wood Technology/Wood Science/Forest Products sector.
- College students attending a four year college or university in the Wood Technology/Wood Science/Forest Products sector.
Applicants must have completed at least one job or internship in a wood-related business and provide three references, including one from an LSLA member company representative.
Application Deadline: November 30, 2026
Completed applications may be submitted by mail or emailed to lsla@lsla.com. Email submissions must be received by 5:00 PM CST on November 30, 2026.

Your assistance in connecting deserving students with this scholarship will help support the next generation of professionals in the wood products industry.
