HMR/Fastmarkets Proposes to Launch Kiln Dried Cypress Prices
Launch would include 20 weekly price assessments
The Hardwood Market Report team is pleased to announce that we will be launching 20 new kiln dried Cypress lumber prices in December 2026, contingent upon industry feedback during a 30-day consultation period starting today.
The proposed items are 1×4, 1×6, 1×8, 1×10, 1×12, 2×4, 2×6, 2×8, 2×10, and 2×12 in both the Select & Better and #2 Common grades. Each item will include a listing and a prevailing price range. All prices will be net tally, FOB mill in US dollars per thousand board feet and will be published in the Southern section of Hardwood Market Report.
This proposed addition of Cypress prices was spurred by numerous requests from producers, traders, distributors, and end users.
In response, the HMR team mobilized, with Price Reporter Ben Stanley taking the lead in conducting extensive surveys and phone calls, along with visits to stakeholders. These steps were taken to confirm that we could collect enough information on a consistent basis to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
The results were very promising and provide solid support for this proposed launch. We are grateful for the many contacts whose participation in the process, to this point, has made the addition of Cypress pricing in Hardwood Market Report highly likely.
As noted earlier, the consultation period for this proposed launch starts today, Friday, October 30, 2026, and will end on Monday, November 30, 2026. Immediately after the consultation period ends, HMR/Fastmarkets will announce the results and issue a final decision about the launch. If we move forward, the new prices will be launched in the December 11, 2026, issue of Hardwood Market Report.
